Before moving further into the article, let us talk about Utah. Utah is known for being one of the most marvelous states in the western part of United States. It is not only a nice place to visit but also a great place to live and work. Various laws are made to protect the rights of workers in this state.

In this article I would like to state some of the state labor laws which are applicable in Utah. Let us start with it.

1. Minimum wage

As of July 24, 2009, the Utah minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Minor employees, who are under 18 years of age, may be paid $4.25 per hour, as a training wage, for the first 90 days of employment. Workers receiving tips of at least $30.00 per month may be paid a cash wage of $2.13 per hour. All workers who put in over 40 weekly hours are entitled to a minimum wage of at least 1.5 times the regular applicable minimum wage.

2. Harassment

If you will be found guilty for any kind of harassment then you will definitely be punished very badly. The employer is answerable for any kind of mishappenings that may arise at work place. This law is basically made to make sure that the women are well protected in all the companies.

3. Discrimination

This act prohibits service discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, color, national origin, age, and disability. Utah’s law also prohibits work discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related conditions. If any owner is found guilty then he or she will be severely punished.

4. Safety and protection at work place

It is the first and foremost duty to an employer to ensure a safe working environment to all the workers. According to this law each owner should provide his workers, a place of employment which is free from any kind of hazards that may cause serious physical harm to the workers.

5. Work place injury

If an injury is caused to an employee at work place then he or she is entitled to receive compensation from the owner.

6. Utah labor law posters

It is mandatory on owner’s part to post an updated and correct labor law poster in the work place so that workers are well aware of their rights.

These are some of the laws which are being followed in this state. Make sure that you provide the best working conditions to all the employees.

The Utah SEO Jungle

There is currently a burgeoning market in the United States. It’s the Utah SEO market. Right now there are many SEO companies springing up in Utah and the ones that were already there are competing for limited space. Some say that its Utah’s high rate of college graduates and computer educated citizens, others say it’s just the fact that Utah’s economy is growing and catching up to other states. Either way one thing is clear, Utah’s SEO market is growing and competition is becoming more prevalent. Let’s explore a few different factors on what separates these seemingly similar companies.

Different kinds of SEO companies

There are many different types of SEO companies. Since the market is growing that means space is decreasing and businesses must begin to compartmentalize to fully reap profits. By “specializing” in any given thing companies have an opportunity to make themselves number one in their field.

Some companies focus on one particular aspect of search engine optimization like link building while others run the gauntlet and do comprehensive “everything” SEO. Others perform other web services like web design and development while some focus more on the public relations marketing side of things like traditional marketing firms.

Different companies require different strategies

For every different firm there is each will have its own strategy based upon management, talent, business direction, profit, market opportunities and miscellaneous other factors. It stands to reason that if every company is different then so must its overall business strategy. Even within the same field of search engine optimization almost every company’s mission statement is different. Make sure that you understand your companies’ goals and the way their business operates, this can be very important.

Management or lack thereof

The problem with many SEO firms is that the management is simply an SEO expert who rose through the ranks or started his own company. And while this should be applauded it must be understood that management is tricky. Most could spend lifetime learning and not fully understand how to manage. This is because management involves an understanding of people and their motivations.

Everyone work under a different motivation and everyone has different strength/weaknesses, like and dislikes. As a manager you must comprehend this and cater to this. Play to everyone’s strengths and try to avoid assigning them to tasks that are their weaknesses. Also if you come at the same problem from a different angle you can encourage the discouraged. Some employees want money, praise, stimulation, inspiration; no matter what the motivation you as a manager must find a way to make your employees motivated towards their work and the companies goals. By doing this you will have happier employees who are always more productive.

Unfortunately there are two kinds of smarts; street and book. In the science world these are known as I.Q and E.Q. A person’s emotional quotient or E.Q. is their ability to perceive asses and manage ones self or others. In a scientific study it was shown that one trait all leaders have in common is a high E.Q. Many of the self appointed leaders (especially computer guru’s) over estimate their ability to intelligently read others. Emotional Intelligence is arguably a genetic trait and cannot be taught, which means some people are born to be leaders and others are merely placed into this position through merit or achievement or even by accident.

Image vs. Practicality/efficiency

One point that needs to be made is that sacrificing client work time for self promotion no matter what form is detrimental to the sustainability of the business. Unless you have the entire client work adequately covered and you have a surplus of labor can you afford to work on promoting your business and your service.

Like life running a business is a balancing act, making sure that each balance beam is steady. Some would consider a CEO more of a juggler than anything. While you should never abandon building up your corporate image or abandon the morale of the workers for a client it is a balance between client and corporate interests. Many CEO’s in the SEO world have forgotten this rule and taken their client base for granted. When this happens clients become dissatisfied as they see more and more of what should be their work being poured into your image.

Traffic vs. Profits

Many companies seem to believe that traffic by itself is an indicator of success and future leads; however we know this is not true. Firstly the type of traffic is of the utmost importance. If your visitors have no desire to buy your product, regardless of incentive than that’s unprofitable traffic. One distinction should be made from a search engine optimization standpoint however that search engines favor traffic as it is an indicator of popularity. But aside from this targeted traffic should be your main focus as this will drive in the leads and conversions your business needs to be profitable and successful.

This is a short abstract compared to how fully this topic could be explored. But the short and simple is that do not take everything at face value. Be a critical thinker and make objective comparisons between companies, their staff, their results and their services. Unfortunately we are not all created equally and some Utah SEO firms are better than others. Be diligent in your research and consider carefully the route you wish to go. Stay posted for our follow up on different Utah SEO firms and how to choose on.

Ski Utah-Park City Lodging

There are very few places that can have you sailing down pristine airy powder within an hour of your arrival at the airport. Salt Lake City is one of them, but it doesn’t stop there. Check out all the other great things to do! If you’re adventurous, you can even get to the slopes by helicopter or snow cat! Of course snowboarding and cross-country skiing are also part of the ski Utah experience. Snowmobile rentals are available too, so even if some of your party doesn’t ski, there’s still plenty to do!

I thought myself pretty hip to the U.S. ski destinations, and so I never used to look any further north than Colorado. A friend of mine suggested Ski Utah for a multiple-family destination, because places like Park City offer so much for the entire family to see and do. I had to admit that flying into Denver and then getting transport from there into Breckenridge didn’t sound like a good time to me. When I started doing my research and found out about all the things that Utah offers, it became a no-brainer.

Since the 2002 Winter Olympics were held in Salt Lake City, I expected housing to be a big a concern for any of the 10 great ski resorts within an hour of Salt Lake City. We were already spending more (whether we flew or drove) because of the higher cost of fuel these days. There was simply no way we could afford to rent enough hotel rooms for both of our families too! What were we going to do? Park City lodging and condo rentals to the rescue!

While a hotel room can be a pleasant bit of pampering, living in one room gets old pretty quickly. When I come back from a long enjoyable day of awesome skiing, I’m pretty beat. I just want to kick off my boots and relax, but don’t feel comfortable doing that in the stiff formality of a hotel.

Park City lodging in a condo can shave several hundred dollars off of the cost of hotel lodgings, and provide a much more comfortable experience for you and your family. Condos come fully equipped; Beds have fresh linens, bathrooms are well stocked with towels, and the kitchens sport all the pots and pans and dishes you need to enjoy snacks and family meals at home.

For the price of one decent room, you can often rent the entire condo. While there are some minimum stay requirements, most people travelling that far will be staying at least the required weekend. Those staying for a full week or more will often enjoy a couple of free days’ stay off of the per-day price for the same quality housing.

The amenities also make condo rental appealing. Many condos have washers and dryers in the units, semi-private jacuzzis, ready parking, etc. What better way to relax after an exuberating day on the slopes?!

On top of all of that, most condos are located close to the slope, which means being very near the hotspots. If we wanted to mingle with locals or other visitors, that wouldn’t be a problem. The live music at ski resorts is more than worth the short drive from the condo and, unless your hotel is at the base of the slopes, chances are good you’ll have a lot more fun with the condo as well!

Without the added savings from a Park City condo, there was no way we could have had our Most Excellent Ski Utah adventure!

Heber City, Utah Real Estate

If you are relocating to the Park City Utah area then you may want to consider the nearby Heber City area to find some great values on Homes.  It is just a short 15 minute commute to the Park City area and ski resorts.

The Heber Valley area is very family friendly and offers many great outdoor activities for the family to enjoy.  Some of the popular activities in the area include fly fishing, boating, golfing, XC skiing, horse back riding, biking and hiking.  The Provo River which is a blue ribbon fly fishing river runs through the Heber Valley offering easy access to some incredible fishing.  In the distance there are amazing  breath taking views to enjoy of Mount Timpanogos as well as beautiful pastures of horses grazing.

The town offers many shopping options as a small local airport.  Then the Provo area which is a short 30 minuted commute away offers even more shopping options if you can’t find what you are looking for in the Heber Valley.

If you are looking to get the most for your money near Park City Utah then you will find some incredible values with homes starting as low as $200,000.  Whereas in the Park City area one would need to spend nearly twice as much for the same home.  It is possible in this market to find a home priced less than it would cost to buy a lot and build.  More folks are considering this area for their second home or retirement home rather than Park City since it is so conveniently located.

Utah Season Wrap 2009

It would be hard to top Utah’s 2008 season. In 2008 the Utes finished as the nation’s only undefeated team. Utah ran through the Mountain West Conference undefeated and was rewarded with a berth in the Sugar Bowl. It was Utah’s second ever BCS bowl bid, and the Utes surprised many by dominating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Some argued that they should have been given a piece of the national title as the nation’s only unbeaten team, but Utah was only able to garner enough votes to finish second. They had a chance to match that record in 2009, but were unable to replace much of their offense.

Running back Eddie Wide was the focal point of the Utah offense in 2009. He ran for 1,069 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first season as Utah’s featured back. Unfortunately, the Utes could not replace the production of Brian Johnson at quarterback. After Johnson threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2008 they could not get the same out of junior Terrance Cain. Cain split time with Jordan Wynn and the pair combined to throw for over 2,800 yards, but they only managed 19 touchdowns.

Utah began its season with the nation’s longest active winning streak and they were able to extend it in week one against an in state rival. Utah dominated Utah State 35-17 to keep its winning streak going. The Utes did not surrender a third down conversion to the Aggies. Utah also won quite handily in week two at San Jose State 24-14. Unfortunately, the Utes’ winning streak came to an end in week three. They had a chance to notch an impressive road win at Oregon, but the Ducks held serve at home in a 31-24 win. That loss likely ended any hopes of a repeat BCS bowl, but the Mountain West title was still up for grabs.

Utah would stay alive for most of the season because of a six game winning streak after the Oregon game. Utah beat Louisville (30-14), Colorado State (24-17), UNLV (35-15), Air Force (23-16), Wyoming (22-10), and New Mexico (45-14) to set up a tricky game against TCU. Because of the winning streak there was renewed hope for a BCS bowl, but TCU had BCS aspirations of its own. The Horned Frogs dominated the Utes 55-28 to take full control of the conference and their BCS fate.

A 38-7 win over San Diego State followed, but there were even more empty feelings when the Utes ended their regular season with the Holy War against rival Bringham Young. Utah trailed 20-6 going into the fourth quarter, but managed to tie the game with a late field goal. Unfortunately, the overtime is where BYU regained control for a 26-23 win. Utah did not let that disappointment carry over to the bowl game though.

Wynn threw for a career high 338 yards and three touchdowns as Utah won the Poinsettia Bowl over California. The 37-27 win was a great way to cap a somewhat disappointing season.
